Today is Eid al-Adha (Sacrifice - Gurban) in Azerbaijan
Eid al-Adha, a holiday of mercy and sharing, commences every year on the 10th day of the Hijri month of Dhu al-Hijjah in the entire Muslim world. This year, the corresponding date falls on 6 June in the Gregorian calendar.
Eid al-Adha, considered one of the holiest holidays in the Islamic world, is celebrated with pomp in all Muslim countries.
During the holiday, a sheep, ram, cow, calf or camel is usually slaughtered. The sacrificial meat is divided into equal parts and distributed to those in need (the poor).
According to the rules of the Islamic religion, the slaughtered animal can be divided into 3 parts. It is advisable to distribute these parts to the family, close relatives and the poor of the person who sacrificed the animal.
After Azerbaijan regained its independence, Eid al-Adha is celebrated at the state level in Azerbaijan in accordance with the law "On Holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan" dated October 27, 1992, adopted by the Milli Majlis.
Happy Eid al-Adha!
