A conference was held on the topic “Plant protection: contemporary calls , problems and ways of solutions”

A scientific-practical conference was held, on the topic “Plant protection: contemporary calls, problems and ways of solutions” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist, academician Siddiga Mammadova, organized by the Scientific Research Institute of Plant Protection and Technical Plants.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, scientists, specialists working in the fields of agriculture, biology and ecology, employees of scientific-research institutes and higher education institutions participated in the event.
Opening the conference, Professor Ibrahim Jafarov talked about the outstanding contributions of academician Siddiga Mammadova to Azerbaijani science. He noted that the scientific research she conducted in the field of plant protection is still relevant today and that this is a crucial example for those working in this field. 
The head of the Ganja branch of ANAS, academician Fuad Aliyev, talked about the basic problems facing Azerbaijani science in the field of agriculture. He noted climate change, new changes in agriculture, processes of pests in agriculture, development and management of biological agents as the main problems of contemporary times. 
At the end of the plenary session was presented, a book titled “Creators of Cereals and Technical Plants”, prepared by the joint authorship of the young researchers of the institute. 
The conference continued its activities in the sections that were held after the plenary session.
Made a speech at the conference, the head of the Board of the “Dendrology Garden” public legal entity under the authority of the head of the Executive Power of Baku City, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor Samira Baghirova, convey on the methods and results of combating plant diseases, legal transmitters. She presented the current state of plant protection in the “Dendrology Garden”, achievements, current technologies, integrated and biological control methods, ecological product production, application of biotechnology in plant protection, and practical inspections in the field of plant defense.
At the end of the conference, certificates were presented to the researchers who made reports for their participation.
It should be noted that the conference will continue its work in sections on 12 June.
