Today is the Day of Restoration of Independence of Azerbaijan.

Today marks the 34th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On 18 October, 1991, the Supreme Soviet adopted the Constitutional Act "On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
The Azerbaijani people established an independent republic at the beginning of the last century, and in 1991 the Republic of Azerbaijan restored its independence as the heir (successor) of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
At the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament on 15 October, 2021, a new law "On Independence Day" was adopted. On the same day, the law "On Independence Day" was approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
With the approval of the law, October 18 - State Independence Day was renamed and declared the Day of Restoration of Independence.
It should be noted that in Azerbaijan, Independence Day is a working day celebrated as a holiday every year.
