Phenological observations are being conducted on the seeds of plant species in the "Dendrology Garden"

Staff of the laboratory of "Forest Ecosystems" of the "Dendrology Garden" public legal entity (PLE) under the authority of the head of the Executive Power of Baku City are conducting phenological observations on the seeds of plant species located in the garden.
During observations on the seeds of tree-like sedge (Colutea arborescens L.), gorgeous callistemon (Callistemon specious Sweet.), goat's horn (Ceratonia siliqua L.), hornbeam (Gleditsia triacanthos), cockscomb (Erythrina crista-galli L.), Cillis sezalpinia (Caesalpinia gilliesii D.Dietr), three-leafed jackal (Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge), western thuja (Thuja accidentalis L.) and other plants, the germination time of the seeds, the date of emergence of the first leaves and the initial growth rate are recorded.
Based on these observations, the adaptability of plants and their suitability for climatic conditions are determined.
The germination rate of various species differs from each other, and these differences depend on genetic features as well as environmental factors.
The information obtained is considered crucial for selection, planning of agrotechnical measures, and ecological monitoring.
Thus, the germination phase of seeds and phenological observations are one of the basic investigation directions of plant physiology and ecology.
