ECOLOGICAL MONITORING OF SOIL STRUCTURE IN THE OGHUZ DISTRICT
Located in the north-west of Azerbaijan, on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus, Oghuz District is an area rich in natural resources and high biodiversity The total area of Oghuz District is 121.6 thousand hectares. In the mountain forests of the district, Fagus L., Carpinus L., and Quercus L. species predominate. Forests composed of these three tree genera constitute about 95% of the district’s forested areas. In the mountain, foothill, and lowland forests of the district, in addition to widely distributed tree species such as Quercus L., Populus L., and Fraxinus L., rare and valuable species like Celtis L., Taxus L. (an evergreen coniferous tree), Pistacia L., Cotinus Mill., Buxus L., and Juniperus L. also grow.
