A conference of non-governmental organizations specializing in the field of ecology was held at the “Orchus” Public Ecology Information Center

On March 29, the "For a Green World" Citizen Society Platform NGO Coalition, which unites NGOs specializing in the field of ecology in Azerbaijan, held a conference at the Aarhus Public Environmental Information Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. At the conference "What can be the role of the society and the public in solving environmental problems", the events and the strategic document of the institution for 2024 were presented to the public.

At the conference, "Green World" Ecological Awareness, "Sky and Eco" Socio-Economic Development Assistance, "Support for Innovative Awareness of Women and Children" in the field of "Ulduz" Information Communication Technologies "Towards a Healthy Life", Support for the Citizen Education and Promotion of Participation of public associations, "Monitor of Democracy" organization, chairmen of Entrepreneurship and Market Economy Development Assistance Fund participated. Representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture, Science and Education, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, "Azerigas" PU, "Tamiz Shaher" OJSC, "Azersu" OJSC also participated in the conference.

Opening the event, Samir Hasanov, coordinator of the "For a Green World" Citizen Society Platform NGO Coalition, spoke about the duties of the civil society in the year of environmental solidarity "For a Green World" and informed about the work to be done by the coalition.

The member of the Administrative Personnel of Coalition, PhD in Chemical Sciences, Sadiq Hasanov, presented the report he prepared on the current environmental problems. Then there were discussions around the presentation.

Taleh Aliyev, the chairman of the Promotion of Civic Participation to Public Union said that there is a need to hold awareness  events in the society regarding environmental problems. According to him words, it would be useful to establish internet television for environmental problems to keep in mind or attention.

Sabit Baghirov, the lead of the Fund of Assistance  to Development of Entrepreneurship and Market Economy, said that  ecologically oriented NGOs on his internet television for promotion and awareness will be created all kinds of opportunities.   

Elman Jafarli, the lead consultant of the Public Legal Entity "Dendrology Garden" under the head of the Executive Power  of  Baku City, the chairman of the "Green World" Environmental Awareness Public Union, called on NGOs to work closely with schools and school-age children. The chairman of the NGO said that there is a need for regular awareness of students about environmental problems: "We have held plenty of events in schools with the helpful of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations. Sometimes we have organized meetings with school children on our own initiative. Such meetings have a positive affect on students. We consider that environmental awareness should be start at an early age.

  The events  held that in schools, video clips, and video books keep a deep impression on the mind of students. "The Ministry of Science and Education has created condition for the meetings we always want to hold in secondary schools."

The representatives of institutions said that to ready cooperation with NGOs   the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Science and Education, SOCAR, "Azerigas" OJSC, "Tamiz Shahar" OJSC, "Azersu" OJSC.
