The global warming problems were discussed in the Social Economic College of under of UNEC

On April 24, in the Social Economic College of under of UNEC “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” regarding to "Global warming problems: how to get out of the situation?" on theme a public discussion was held.

At the event, participated the Deputy Chairman of the Administrative Personnel of the "Dendrology Garden" Public Legal Entity, PhD in Biology, associate professor Samira Baghirova, the Chairman of the "Green World" Environmental Awareness Public Union Elman Jafarli, the Chairman of "Sky and Eco" Socio-Economic Development Assistance Public Union Irada Hasanova.

 

 Vidadi Orujov, director of in the Social Economic College of under of UNEC, doctor of pedagogy sciences, associate professor, said that global climate change has serious consequences, natural disasters, floods are increasing, and infectious diseases are spreading. According to him, the causes of the global environmental crisis should be carefully studied and appropriate steps should be taken to solve the problems.

The director talked about the work done within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World". He said that every citizen should be solidar in the year of the green world, should be support the steps taken in the direction of environmental protection and increasing greenery and greening area.

Elman Jafarli, Chairman of "Green World" Environmental Awareness Public Union, talked about the global climate change problems in the last 30 years. He said that the rapid growth of the world's population, industrialization and urbanization were accompanied by the reduction of forest areas and the creation of large megacities (megalopolis).

"International organizations thinking about the fate of the world are already sounding the alarm about global climate change. In recent years, the seasons seem to have changed. In the some seasons seem to unseasonably weather conditions. All this is the result of the global environmental crisis", said E.Jafarli, who consider that the in November COP-29 conference will be held in Baku will be a message to the world, and will be remembered for the adoption of serious decisions regarding the climate. 

"More than 80,000 representatives from more than 120 countries of the world will come to COP-29. This meeting is a unique opportunity in terms of introducing Azerbaijan's socio-economic successes to the world and studying the green energy potential of our country. COP-29 will be a platform that explores ways out of climate problems and enables joint making decision," said E. Jafarli.

Irada Hasanova, the Chairman of "Sky and Eco" Socio-Economic Development Assistance Public Union, called on young people to be sensitive to the environment and the living world:

 "Each person must be plant and cultivate 7 trees during his life. Participate in tree-planting actions as a nature volunteer, fight against loggers and those who throw household waste anywhere. Be kind to street animals. Your exemplary behavior will be an example for others."

 Irada Hasanova said that Armenia's mining enterprises pollute to Azerbaijan's water resources, all eco-activists must be protest against this: "Armenia was building a metallurgical factory in Arazdeyan together with a US company. This enterprise would pollute the Araz river and destroy the species of plants and animals living there. We addressed appeals to international organizations. Protests gave results, that construction was stopped."

Deputy Chairman of the Administrative Personnel of "Dendrology Garden" Public Legal Entity, PhD in Biology, associate professor Samira Baghirova said that the destruction of rare species of flora and fauna in recently is one of the consequences of global climate changes:

"In the I Red Book published in 1989, the number of rare plant species was 140, and the number of fauna species was 108. In the II Red Book published in 2013, plant species reached 300 and fauna species reached 223. Finally, in the III Red Book published in 2023, rare plant species have already reached 460, and fauna species have reached 241. Calls for mitigating the consequences of global climate change must be taken seriously, initiatives aimed at environmental protection should be supported."

 Samira Baghirova said that the organization she leads actively participates in tree planting actions and takes initiatives related to the cleaning of the Caspian coastal areas from household waste.

 Natig Musayev, head of experience of in the Social Economic College of under of UNEC, called on young people to save or protect water resources and be active in greening actions. He considered it necessary to switch to green transport in order to improve the ecological environment in big cities.
