The soil and climate features of "Dendrology Garden" create conditions for the introduction of tropical and subtropical plant array. The staff of the laboratory "Economically importance plants" of the public legal entity "Dendrology Garden" carry out research on the investigate of food and industrially important citrus species rich in essential oil and acclimatization of new varieties on the Absheron Peninsula.
On April 26, 2024, specialists Shanay Albaliyeva and Aydan Aghamaliyeva were sent for business trip to the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center of ANAS and got acquainted with the cultivation conditions and agrotechnical maintenance of citrus species.
Citrus reticulata Blanco from Lankaran territory. (tangerine deaf), Citrus × pyriformis (limon panderosa), Citrus limon (L.) Osbeck. (local lemon), Citrus × meyeri Yu.Tanaka. (meyer limon) seedlings of lemon and naringi varieties were supplied from the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center for the purpose of introducing them to the area of the Dendrology Garden, investigating their bioecological properties, obtaining essential oil and analyzing their composition. Research work is ongoing.
