A conference dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Ministry of Science and Education Republic of Azerbaijan Institute of Botany on the topic "Let's make our world green"

A conference dedicated to the 101st anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" was held under the organization of the Botany Institute of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the event, which began with the singing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, the dear memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs was paid tribute with a moment of silence. Then was shown a video which dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Opening the event, the General Director of the Institute of Botany, Doctor  of Biological  Science, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva talked about on the topic "Heydar Aliyev Phenomenon: Unity of Science and Education". The professor talked about National Leader Heydar Aliyev's state building, unparalleled services in the development of science, culture and education. He noted that the people of Azerbaijan rightfully call Heydar Aliyev a savior. During the years of his rule, oil contracts - "Contract of the Century" - were signed, which became a guarantee of the prosperous life of the state and people of Azerbaijan, guaranteeing rapid development and progress, irreversibility and security of independence. Thanks to the National Leader’s determination, will and courage, the "black gold" of Azerbaijan wrote the history of the beautiful days of this nation.

"From this period, the Republic of Azerbaijan began to develop rapidly in all socio-economic directions. During the years when national leader Heydar Aliyev led Soviet Azerbaijan, 5 new higher education institutions were opened in the country and the number of students in higher schools increased from 70 thousand to 100 thousand. Based on the great leader's concept of education policy, it can be said that although science and education contain two independent fields, it is impossible to isolate one from the other, and from this point of view, the problems of science and education were approached in a complex manner. Since both directions are part of the general state policy and have a strategic nature, their integration is inevitable.

Because the existence of science without education and education without science is impossible. In his speeches, the national leader repeatedly emphasized that education is a complex and crucial field, and noted that the field of education is a field that reflects the special, intellectual aspect of the society," said S.Ibadullayeva.

According to her, the National Leader fulfilled the same mission with foresight in the field of introducing the country's rich nature and natural resources to the world.

National Leader knew very well that the stable development of Azerbaijan depends very much on the solution of environmental problems. This policy of his directed us to study the soil, plants, water, air, forest, spring and vegetation of our country more deeply.

In his speech, the professor also noted that extensive monitoring of the distribution of plants in Karabakh has been started in order to write the book "Flora of Karabakh" are published by our biologists-scientists this year. 1 out of 5 expeditions has already been carried out in the city of Lachin.

Deputy Chairman of the Management Staff of "Dendrology Garden", docent Samira Baghirova, PhD in Biology, made a speech entitled "Environmental Policy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev".  He said that during the first and second term of the Azerbaijani people's National Leader Heydar Aliyev, he always made necessary decisions and was took aimed at initiatives in the direction of improving the environment in the country.

Because this work was done consistently, regularly and systematically, it gave great results. The National Leader's attitude to our rich material resources, greenery, forests, mountains, rivers, springs, in the other word, to nature was a part of his idea of Azerbaijanism.

S.Baghirova noted that in the activities of Heydar Aliyev, the issues of further improvement of the ecological situation, environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources were always in the focus of special attention:

"When the great leader led our country in 1969-1982 and 1993-2003, important laws and decisions were adopted in the field of ecology and environmental protection. During the reign of Heydar Aliyev, many nature reserves, sanctuaries, wildlife corners, parks, reservoirs were created in the country. State reserves created in the upper zones of Shirvan, Pirgulu, as well as Talysh mountains, Ismayilli forests, Lachin, Gubadli regions, Tartarchay, Agstafa lakes, Araz water junction, Kura aqueduct, Arpachay reservoir were created during the reign of the great leader.

Samira Baghirova said that the National Leader's large-scale afforestation measures were implemented: "During the years 1969-1982, new forests were planted on 51,000 hectares of state forest fund lands. In 1989-1997, forest restoration works were carried out on 45,000 hectares of land in the republic.

According to Samira Baghirova, our country is taking the essential steps to eliminate the consequences of the environmental crisis.

"Global climate change is one of the main problems that has worried our world in the last 50 years. The consequences of global climate change have begun to be felt in Azerbaijan. Environmental problems also affect the development of rare plants.

In the I "Red Book" published in 1989, the number of rare plant species was 140, and the number of fauna species was 108, while in the II "Red Book" published in 2013, the number of plant species and fauna reached 223. In the III "Red Book" published in 2023, there were 470 rare plant species and 241 fauna species," the biologist said.

According to S.Baghirova, the tradition of protecting the environment in our country, founded by the National Leader, is being successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva," he said.

S.Baghirova called on every citizen to join the calls of President Ilham Aliyev in the year of solidarity for the sake of a green world, to contribute to the defense of the environment and the planting of greenery.

The conference proceedings were conducted by Deputy Chairman of the Management Staff of the Public Legal Entity "Central Botanical Garden", Natig Allahverdiyev's "The National Leader's Care for Nature", Laboratory Director, Doctor of Biological Science, Associate Professor Hasan Babayev's "The National Leader and Nature of Azerbaijan ", Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Botany, PhD in Biology "Invaluable services of the National Leader in the direction of the protection of the nature of Azerbaijan" by Nigar Mursal gizi and the leading researcher of the Institute of Botany, PhD in Biology. It speeches continued with Nuri Movsumova  on "The role of Heydar Aliyev in the defense of biodiversity".

Within the framework of the event, a tree-planting action was carried out in the green area of the Central Botanical Garden, trees and flower shrubs were planted by the participants of the event, and agrotechnical care was provided to them.
