An event on "Protection and restoration of ecological balance" was held in Khazar region

On 27 June, an event on "Protection and restoration of ecological balance" was held in the Eco-park of Zira Cultural Center under the organization of the Executive Power of Khazar District and "Dendrology Garden" Public Legal Entity. Elshan Salahov, the head of the Executive Power of Khazar District, who opened the event with his opening speech, talked about the work carried out in recent years to improve the ecological environment in the country.

Emphasizing that Azerbaijan has made its contribution to the fight against the consequences of global climate change, the head of the Executive Power of Khazar District said that one of the five national priorities for socio-economic development of Azerbaijan until 2030 has been defined as a "country of clean environment and green growth".

According to him, in accordance with the established priority, efforts are being made to protect the environment, restore and increase greenery, and ensure efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources.

Speaking at the event, Irada Huseynova, Elshad Gurbanov, Jabrayil Agayev, Hasan Babayev, Namig Mammadov, Sayyara Ibadullayeva said that global warming has serious consequences, they talked about the need to take steps to improve the environment and transition to green energy.

Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, associate professor Samira Baghirova, acting as the Chairman of the Management Staff of the Public Legal Entity "Dendrology Garden" under the authority of the head of the Executive Power of  Baku City, who said that the holding of this prestigious event in our country is a manifestation of appreciation for the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of transition to green energy drew attention to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan in the fall.  

"Our country makes great contributions to environmental protection and prevention of climate change at the national, regional and global levels. Constant improvement of the ecological situation and efficient use of natural resources have always been the focus of attention of President Ilham Aliyev, the worthy follower of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The purposeful and successful policy of the head of state in socio-economic fields has brought great success to our country. Also, the work done by the country's First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva in improving the ecological situation, protecting nature and environment, preventing disasters related to climate change and organizing a serious fight against factors that pollute the environment is worthy of appreciation.

The participation of tens of thousands of people in the greening actions initiated by state institutions and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation shows the sensitivity of the Azerbaijani public to the president's calls," Samira Baghirova said.

"The creation of green energy types and the transportation of green energy to the world markets is the priority of Azerbaijan's energy policy. "Azerbaijan aims to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the installed capacity of electricity production to 30 percent by 2030," said Samira Baghirova, stressing that the construction and rehabilitation works in the liberated regions are based on green technologies.

She reminded that Azerbaijani scientists and the public support the calls of the president and contribute to the health of the environment:"In generally, “Dendrology Garden" PLE has repeatedly participated in tree planting actions held in Baku city and the Absheron peninsula. Thousands of tree saplings and flower bushes were planted in these actions. We continue environmental awareness campaigns aimed at protecting and improving the environment, protecting water resources. The purpose of all this is to encourage the formation of environmental education in the young generation and promote the environmental policy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
