A scientific-practical conference was held in Ganja on "Plants pests and their management in the global climate change conditions"

With a supporting aim to COP 29, a republican scientific-practical conference on "Plants pests and their management in the global climate change conditions" was held at the Scientific Research Institute of Plant Protection and Technical Plants.

At the conference, the head of the Executive Power of Ganja City Niyazi Bayramov, the chairman of the NAP Ganja city organization Bayram Aslanov, the vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the general director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the AR MSE (Ministry of Science and Education Republic of Azerbaijan), academician Irada Huseynova, the director of the Plant Protection and Technical Plants Scientific Research Institute, Professor Ibrahim Jafarov, scholars participated.

Director of the Plant Protection and Technical Plants Scientific Research Institute, Ibrahim Jafarov, reminded that 2024 was declared the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in our country by the relevant decree of our state, and the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was held in our country. He noting that it will be held, he emphasized that the holding of such a prestigious event in Baku is related to the high trust of the global community in Azerbaijan, as well as the vital services carried out in this field in our republic.

Academician Irada Huseynova talked about the significance of the topics discussed at the scientific conference.

 Make a speech in the conference, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of "Dendrology Garden" PLE, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor Samira Baghirova, who talked in the conference, said that due to the global climate changes currently taking place in the world, the decrease in precipitation, seasonal weather, etc. causes, in addition to negatively affecting the vegetative development of plants, activate harmful organisms that have gained more resistance to unfavorable natural factors, extend their distribution area and damage period, and thus lead to more losses:

"In connection with this, complex measures are being organized in agricultural areas, forest fund and other green zones to ensure phytosanitary stability in the territory of the republic, and work is being done to eliminate or prevent the damage caused by harmful organisms to natural vegetation and cultivated crops and the phytosanitary danger that may arise due to this in the future".

 According to her, the continuous supply of food and vegetable products to the population is an integral part of our security: "Creation and application of advanced and contemporary technologies based on national agricultural traditions in this area is one of the urgent problems of the day.

Thus, the plant breeding and plant protection products introduced without control and applied without regulation, as well as unprofessional approach to production, have changed the species composition of diseases and pests that damage agricultural fields.

Agil Gasimov, Jamala Aghayeva and Seljan Safaraliyeva, representatives of the public legal entity "Dendrology Garden" also participated in the conference.

 The republican scientific-practical conference continued its work with 9 section meetings scheduled for September 24.
