It is Fuzuli City Day
Today is Fuzuli City Day, four years have passed since the liberation of the city from occupation.
In addition, on that day, the city of Fuzuli, 7 more settlements of the region – Gochahmadli, Chiman, Juvarli, Pirahmadli, Musabayli, Ishikly, Dadaly villages were cleared of invaders.
The Fuzuli operation was one of the most significant battles that took place on the south-eastern front of the Second Karabakh War of the Azerbaijani Army.
The enemy fled from the territory, losing a lot of manpower and equipment.
Moreover, the breaching of several defense lines located on the former contact line of Fuzuli created ample opportunities for the advance of the Azerbaijani Army along the southern front.
It should be noted that Fuzuli, one of the largest settlements in Azerbaijan, was founded in 1827. In 1959, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fuzuli, the name of the district was changed to Fuzuli district. The area of the region is 1,386 square kilometers. It includes one city and 78 villages.
On 31 July, 2023, according to the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev Fuzuli City Day is solemnly celebrated on 17 October every year.
