Day of Restoration of Independence is in Azerbaijan

Today is Day of Restoration of Independence in Azerbaijan.

On 18 October,1991, the Supreme Soviet adopted the Constitutional Act "On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan". Republic of Azerbaijan dated August

Azerbaijanis (The people of Azerbaijan) founded an independent republic at the beginning of the last century, and in 1991 the Republic of Azerbaijan regained its independence as the heiress of the Azerbaijan People's Republic.

In May 1992, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan (music by Uzeyir Hajibeyov, lyrics by Ahmad Javad) was approved by the Milli Majlis, and soon after, the tricolor flag and the with an eight-pointed star with a flame in it were approved.

At the plenary session of the Parliament of Azerbaijan on 15 October, 2021, a new law "On Independence Day" was adopted. On the same day, the law "On Independence Day" was approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

With the approval of the law, October 18 – State Independence Day was renamed and declared Day of Restoration of Independence.
