Specialists of "Dendrology Garden" PLE monitored the current condition of pine trees in Mardakan settlement
Currently, due to air and soil pollution, lowering of groundwater levels, and the spread of new innovative diseases in our Republic, there is a need to take measures to boost the environment, defend and increase greenery.
A group of specialists from the "Ecology and Acclimatization" and "Landscape Architecture and Systematics" laboratories of the "Dendrology Garden" PLE visited Sergey Yesenin Street in Mardakan settlement and the yard of some high schools for the aim of studying the drying phenomena of Eldar pine (Pinus eldarica Medw.) organized. A large number of dried and endangered Eldar pine was observed in the territory.
Soil and irrigation water samples were analyzed in Mardakan settlement by experts of "Dendrology Garden" PLE.
A high amount of available Na weakens the resistance of plants to diseases and pests. The high level of Fe and Zn elements prevents the proper absorption of microelements and nutrients by plants, and also causes infection with a number of diseases.
Since the various species of the pine genus are inherently salt-tolerant, the species in the steppe soils of Absheron are resistant to low and medium salinity, but improper agrotechnical care and poor watering, low fertilization cause the needles to drop or the plant to dry up.
Taking into account the procedure for removing greenery and based on the opinion of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, it was considered appropriate to remove them and replace them with more sustainable, promising, decorative plant species.
