The 2nd International Conference "Mountains: Biodiversity, Landscapes and Cultures" was held at Western Caspian University
The 2nd International Conference "Mountains: Biodiversity, Landscapes and Cultures" was held under the authority of the head of Executive Power of Baku City, hosted by the Western Caspian University and co-organized by the public legal entity "Dendrology Garden".
Hosting hundreds of foreign guests from 25 countries, the aim of the conference is to discuss solutions to various problems related to mountainous territories at the world level, to bring together creative scholars, tourism experts and everyone who is interested in these issues.
This conference, which has a wide coverage at the internationally, was organized in order to investigate the solutions ways to the existing problems in mountainous areas, defend mountain ecosystems and ensure their sustainable development.
The event brings together scientists and researchers from all over the world and supplies an opportunity for anyone keen on this field to participate. The conference was held in both face-to-face and remote participation formats.
The basic discussion topics of the conference were presented in four panels:
1. Assessment of global mountain biological diversity
2. Global environmental problems
3. Mountain cultures
4. Mountain tourism and economic impacts
Articles presented at the conference will be indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases.
The event was attended by internationally known researchers such as Sarah Manuelli, coordinator of the Mountain Cooperation Program, Mary Sanseverino, researcher of Modern Mountain Research, Jan Cools, PhD, researcher of the University of Antwerp, Simon Seiichiro Maru, former president of the Japan Olympic Association, Svetlana Belova, director of the "Machaon International" organization, as guests of honor.
At the same time, guests from the United States of America, Turkey, Germany, China and 20 other countries participated in the conference.
This international event, which purposes to make crucial contributions to environmental defense, mountain tourism and mountain cultures, will be an essential contributions the defense of mountain ecosystems and environmental protection.
In the panel section of the conference, Aydan Aghamaliyeva, the leading specialist of the "Laboratory of Dendrochronology" of the public legal entity "Dendrology Garden" made a speech on the topic "Comparative study of some species belonging to the genus Acer L in the Hirkan flora by dendrochronological methods".
In the presented article, the age of the species, the effect of climate factors on the species were determined using contemporary equipment and programs, and the progress dynamics were noted.
