The investigation of the features of reproduction of new decorative species by the seeds goes on in “Dendrology Garden”
Staff of the laboratory “Landscape Architecture and systematics” of the public legal entity “Dendrology Garden” carry out research work on the investigation of the characteristics of seed reproduction of various types and varieties of new decorative plants.
The aim of the research work is the introduction of new types of trees, shrubs and herbs, their adaptation to external environmental factors and their application on the basis of architecture of landscape.
5 species have brought from Türkiye (Drosanthemum floribundum (Haw.) Schwantes, Tagetes erecta L., Amaranthus caudatus L., Ageratum houstonianum Mill.,Chrysanthemum indicum L.) the new decorative species are sown indoors in the first ten days of October in plant seedling containers with the addition of a previously prepared mixture of leaves, peat and sand in a ratio of 2:1:1. Suitable temperature and light conditions were provided for seed germination. In the second ten days of October, 60-70% of the first sprouts were noted, and was noted in the third ten days, 4-6 cm in height.
The studied species and varieties can be used in the design of various compositions in order to provide diversity in landscape architecture in terms of colour, shape, and structure. Research work is ongoing.
