Specialists of the PLE “Dendrology Garden” were on a business trip to the Lankaran Scientific Regional Center and the Hirkan National Park
On 26-29 November, 2024, staff of the “Dendrochronology” and “Plants of Economic Importance” laboratories of the “Dendrology Garden” public legal entity under the authority of the Head of the Executive Power of Baku City for scientific research aims were on a business trip to the Lankaran Scientific Regional Center and the Hirkan National Park.
The basic purpose of the research is the introduction of new citrus species to the “Dendrology Garden”, taking samples for dendrochronological research on old plants, and conducting observational monitoring of forests.
As a result, seedlings and seeds of Citrus reticulata Blanco, Citrus meyar, Feijoa O. Berg, Cedar pine, and Common pine species were obtained from the experimental field of the Lankaran Scientific Regional Center and brought to the garden.
In addition, samples were taken from the trunks of Chestnut Oak (Quercus castanefolia C.A.Mey) and Evergreen Cypress (Cupressus sempervirensis) from the Hirkan National Park for dendrochronological analysis.
During forest monitoring, fungi were observed on the trunks of Quercus species, aphids on Cupressus species, and pests on Carpinus species.
