Day is the President Ilham Aliyev's Birthday

Today is the birthday of the President of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev.

Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev was born on 24 December, 1961 in Baku. He studied at Baku secondary school № 6 in 1967-1977, and at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1977-1982.
He was elected a member of the Milli Majlis in 1995 and 2000. In 1999, he was elected Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party, in 2001, First Deputy President, and in 2005, he was elected head of the party.
Ilham Aliyev was elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 15 October, 2003. More than 76 percentage of voters voted for Ilham Aliyev in the presidential elections.

Ilham Aliyev, who won 88.73 percent of the vote in the elections held on 15 October, 2008, was elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the second time. Ilham Aliyev, who won 84.54 percent of the vote in the elections held on 9 October, 2013, was elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the second time. In the elections held on 11 April, 2018, Ilham Aliyev was re-elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, winning 86.02 percent of the vote.
He speaks Azerbaijani, Russian, English, French and Turkish.

On 27 September, 2020, in response to the large-scale provocations by the Armenian armed forces along the front, the Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive operation, later called "Iron Fist". The 44-day Patriotic War ended with the liberation of our railway departments from occupation, thanks to the leadership, diplomatic skills, principled and will of the Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev.
On 19 September, 2023, local anti-terrorist operations were launched to prevent large-scale provocations committed in Karabakh.

With measures lasting more than 23 hours, the firing points and designated objects of the armed formations were held with the use of precision weapons. The enemy surrendered by raising the white flag. Thus, the structure was restored in all territories of Azerbaijan.

On 15 October, 2023, the head of state visited Khankendi, Khojavend, Shusha, Khojaly, and Aghdara regions, visited the Askeran fortress and raised the Azerbaijani flag there.
On 7 February, 2024, for the first time in the nationwide presidential elections, Ilham Aliyev was re-elected as the President of Azerbaijan with 92.12 percent of the vote.
