First, the annual report of the laboratory was presented by Nijat Yarov, a senior specialist of the “Forest Ecosystems Laboratory”.The presentation highlighted the theoretical and practical aspects of scientific observation, research and generative reproduction of valuable tree and shrub species (Hirkanian oak, Common elm, Japanese elm). In addition, the laboratory employees presented the process of growing 6 species of lawn plants of the same species in garden conditions, the work done for the herbarium and seed fund.
Then, the annual report was presented by Aybeniz Hajiyeva, a leading specialist of the “Plants of Economic Importance” laboratory. The presentation reflected the scientific research conducted in the "Dendrology Garden" area, both for the aim of protecting biodiversity and taking into account their industrial and medical importance, on the introduction of various types of medicinal plants from local flora and foreign countries, the study of their bioecological characteristics, and the investigation of the prospects for development in the garden area.
At the same time, the results of scientific research conducted by laboratory employees on the extraction of essential oil from these plants by chromatography, and the study of the oiliness and phytochemical content of the obtained essential oil were presented.
The annual report was presented by Shabnam Ashrafova, the chief specialist of the “Landscape Architecture and Systematics” laboratory. The presentation reflected the scientific research work carried out on the basis of landscape architecture using various decorative plants introduced to Absheron conditions from local flora and foreign countries, the design of compositions of different shapes, and the analysis of the prospects for the use of new species.
At the same time, the results of the scientific research work carried out by the laboratory employees in the “Dendrology Garden” to study the bioecological and seed propagation characteristics of various types and varieties of new decorative plants, as well as the dynamic progress phases were presented.
The annual report of the “Plant Protection and Development Department” was presented by the head of the department, PhD, Associate Professor Agil Gasimov. He presented the scientific research work carried out by the department during the year in the final report.
The activities of the department were carried out in three stages. At the same time, the results of scientific research conducted to study the distribution area of rare and endangered plants of the Hirkan dendroflora and the dendrochronological study of the impact of anthropogenic factors on the area, and the dendrochronological analysis and monitoring of old tree specimens in the “Dendrology Garden” area were also reflected.
Leyla Atayeva, head of the “Ecology and Acclimatization Laboratory”, presented the annual report. It was reported that the laboratory’s specialists carried out a number of research works to study the state of soil, water, and plant resources in parks and gardens and greening farms, acclimatize new species suitable for the areas, and select sustainable species.
Research work was carried out in accordance with the scientific research work plan covering 2024, on the following stages: monitoring the ecological state of soil and water resources of the western part of the Greater Caucasus, application of ecologically clean organic fertilizers and restoration of fertility "For the sake of a green world", methodological justification of drought conditions in Pinus L. species in Absheron parks and gardens and methods of combating them, the impact of environmental changes on Olea europeae L. species in parks and gardens, and the introduction and propagation of new species in the "Dendrology Garden" territory.
Finally, discussions were held regarding the presented reports, and comments and suggestions were made.
