The staff of the “Dendrology Garden” Public Legal Entity visited the Alley of Martyrs

35 years have passed since the January 20 tragedy, which is a heroic page of the Azerbaijani people.

On the night of January 19-20, 1990, military units of the former Soviet army committed an unprecedented massacre against the civilian population who stood up in Baku to establish an independent state and gain their sovereignty. This bloody crime could not extinguish the people's love of freedom, and our people, even at the cost of their blood, gained their state independence.

The crime committed against the Azerbaijani people 35 years ago is actually a terrible terrorist act committed against society, humanism, and humanity. In this tragedy, 147 Azerbaijani citizens were martyred, 638 people were injured, and 841 people were illegally arrested, as a result, the requirements of many international documents on human rights, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, were grossly violated.

Every year, our people flock to the Alley of Martyrs, commemorate the dear memory of the martyrs of January 20, and pray for the souls of the heroic sons and daughters who gave their lives for the freedom of the homeland.

On 19 January, the staff of the "Dendrology Garden" Public Legal Entity under the authority of the Head of the Executive Power of Baku City also visited the Alley of Martyrs on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the January 20 incident.

Employees of the "Dendrology Garden" Public Legal Entity respectfully commemorated the memory of our citizens who died for the freedom and independence of Azerbaijan, and laid flowers on their graves.
