February 2 – Azerbaijan Youth Day

According to the Decree signed by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev on 2 February, 1997, February 2 was declared Azerbaijan Youth Day every year. Since then, this day has been solemnly celebrated in Azerbaijan for the first time in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and Eastern European countries.

Currently, youth policy in our country is experiencing a qualitatively innovative stage. The work done to solve the issues of young people, their spiritual development, patriotic education, education abroad, social defense, the conditions and opportunities created for the formation and progress of youth organizations are the consequence of massive attention to this field. 

After 2003, President Ilham Aliyev further improved the direction of improvement of youth policy based on existing traditions. State programs related to Azerbaijani youth were adopted, 2007 was declared the “Year of Youth”, the Youth Fund was established in 2011, the “Presidential Award for Youth” was founded for the first time in the country in 2013, and the Development Strategy for Azerbaijani youth was approved. The priority of national and state interests in youth policy played a decisive and resolute role in the 44-day Patriotic War of 2020. The basic mission in the war was fulfilled by the young people who grew up during the presidency of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

Ensuring youth employment in our country is also in the spotlight. The projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, to reveal the talents and capabilities of young people are a reliable guarantee of the future of the growing generation. In addition, projects implemented abroad and in our country at the initiative of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva play a crucial role in promoting the successes of Azerbaijan, increasing the activity of our youth, and coordinating their activities.

Today, our youth work confidently in their fields and activities. Right now, when our youth and athletes participate in international events and competitions, they perform with a completely various enthusiasm, once again confirming the truth that we are a victorious nation.
