Ramadan Holiday in Azerbaijan
Today, the people of Azerbaijan and Muslims around the world celebrate the holy holiday of Ramadan.
Fasting during the month of Ramadan was prescribed for Muslims in the second year of the Hijra - 622 AD.
This holy month gives people the opportunity and chance to test their will and endurance, and directs them to be open-minded and clean-minded.
Fasting begins with the sighting of the new moon in Ramadan and lasts for 29-30 days.
Fasting existed before Islam. It is said in the “Quran-e-Karim”: “Fasting was prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before us.”
In Islam, Ramadan is considered the most compassionate and sacred month among the months of the year. It is also called the “sultan of the eleven months.” On one of the nights of Ramadan, the holy book of Muslims, the “Quran-e-Karim” was revealed. That night is called the “Night of Decree” or “Night of Resurrection.”
May God accept all fasting and prayers.
Happy Ramadan!
