A round table was held in the Zira Cultural Center Eco-Park within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” organized by the Executive Power of Khazar District. The event was attended by the head of the Executive Power of Khazar District Elshan Salahov, MPs Aydin Huseynov, Soltan Mammadov, Chairman of the Khazar District Organization Namig Ahmadov, deputies of the Regional Executive Power, department heads and employees of the Regional Administration, heads of departments and enterprises.
The head of the Regional Administration of the Khazar District Elshan Salahov said that the declaration of this year as the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” by President Ilham Aliyev is an indicator of the high appreciation given not only to our legal system, but also to our national consciousness and civic responsibility.
“This year is of particular importance in terms of deepening an important stage in the legal and political history of our country, further strengthening the foundations of our national statehood. This topic is directly related to the daily life of each of us, our relations with the state, and the foundations we lay for future generations. Defending our Constitution and strengthening our sovereignty is the duty of every citizen. We must keep these principles alive not only as history, but also in our daily lives, and progress our legal culture. We must work together to leave a stronger, fairer and freer Azerbaijan as a legacy for future generations,” he said.
Make a speech at the event, MPs Aydin Huseynov and Soltan Mammadov noted that throughout history, our people have fought for the right to self-determination, to live freely, and to protect their national identity and rights. It was noted that sovereignty is not just the existence of state attributes, nevertheless the right of the people to freely and independently determine their own future. It was noted that in the contemporary history of Azerbaijan, this concept entered a new stage with the restoration of our independence in 1991. However, for this sovereignty to be fully realized, a long and difficult path still had to be covered. Ensuring our territorial integrity and liberating Karabakh from occupation were the most important turning points on this path. The reforms carried out under the leadership of our Honorable President, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, improving the legal system and strengthening civil society are significant steps taken in this direction.
Then, the chairman of the Khazar district organization of the NAP, Namig Ahmadov, the chairman of the Khazar district Intellectuals' Society, Tavakkul Salimov, the head of the department for organizing preventive work with minors of the District Police Department, police major Khayala Hasanova, a member of the Mardakan municipality, a history teacher at secondary school №156, Manzar Agabeyova, stated in their speeches that the Constitution is the foundation of the state.
“The Basic Law is the main guarantee of protecting the rights and freedoms of every citizen and forming a just society. Today, we use our rights based on the Constitution in any field – education, healthcare, social protection and other areas,” it was emphasized. The speakers also brought to the attention of the event participants the special services of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who led the republic both during the Soviet era and during the years of independence and dedicated his life to his people, in the creation of the Constitution of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that the Basic Law had a significant impact on the democratic, legal state-building, and the development of socio-political, economic and cultural life in Azerbaijan.
“After being elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr.Ilham Aliyev, a worthy successor of the great leader, started the final, complementary stage of the process of restoring our territorial integrity, the most crucial problem facing our people, and in a short time mobilized all the potential of our country and our people for a single goal. Under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Patriotic War that began on 27 September, 2020, ended with the historic victory of Azerbaijan. On 20 September, 2023, local anti-terrorist measures put the final point in the process of fully restoring our territorial integrity and sovereignty,” it was noted.
