Employees of the "Ecology and Acclimatization" laboratory of the "Dendrology Garden" PLE visited in territories polluted with heavy metals
The employees of the "Ecology and Acclimatization" laboratory of the "Dendrology Garden" public legal entity visited the areas polluted with heavy metals.
Pollutant items were investigated according to the range of pollution and their effect on biological objects. They have implemented high concentration of heavy metals in the soil, toxicity for biota, environmental impact monitoring. The surface discharge of oil products and a lot of amounts of drilling water causes the groundwater level to rise and the soil was salinized again.
They registered the oil field areas of Sabunchu, Binagadi, Surakhani and Khazar districts polluted by oil waste of the Absheron peninsula as heavily polluted lands.
Oil products are soaked up to 100 cm along the profile of these soils, the amount of oil varies from 12.5 to 7.8%.
The staff of laboratory took soil samples for research purposes from oil-polluted territories in Balakhani settlement of Sabunchu district. The main goal of the work is the selection of more durable, decorative and less demanding species in soil polluted with heavy metals, acclimatization and application to greening.
