The presentation of the book “Flora of Karabakh” was held at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS

On 23 December, the presentation ceremony of the book “Flora of Karabakh”, dedicated to the glorious Victory by the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education and the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, was held at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS.
The author and editor of the book, published with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Education and the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, is the Director General of the Institute of Botany, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology of the Milli Majlis, Sadig Gurbanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Dendrology Garden” public legal entity (PLE) under the Chairman of the Executive Power of Baku City, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor Samira Baghirova, botanists, representatives of higher education institutions, media and public representatives.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, emphasized the scientific importance of the book “Flora of Karabakh”, which is the consequence of many years of research by natural scientists. He noted that the publication created an objective map of the flora of Karabakh and East Zangezur territories for all periods based on scientific classification.
The head of ANAS brought to attention that rare plant species and animal kingdoms in the country were carefully studied and seriously researched by scientists of the Department of “Biology and Medical Sciences” in the direction of preparing the “Red Book” of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 
The Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology of the Milli Majlis, Sadig Gurbanov, made a speech and noted that the work covering the vegetation of the Karabakh territory liberated from occupation under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev is a valuable scientific source.
Made a speech later, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, said that after the historic Victory in the Patriotic War and the full restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, large-scale research was conducted by botanical scientists in those areas.
