Decorative shrub-tree and flower seeds obtained from Lithuania and Norway were introduced to the research territories of the Dendrology Garden
On 4 April, 2026, specialists from the “Ecology and Acclimatization” laboratory of the “Dendrology Garden” public legal entity (PLE) under the authority of the head of the Executive Power of Baku City introduced 37 various species of seed samples obtained through exchange from the Botanical Gardens of Klaipeda University in Lithuania and the University of Bergen in Norway in greenhouse conditions.
The supplied Betula tianschanica Rupr., Catalpa ovata G. Don., Isatis tinctoria L., Celtis occidentalis L., Calycanthus floridus L., Calycanthus chinensis W.C. Cheng & S.Y. Chang, Kolkwitzia amabilis Graebn., Celastrus orbiculatus Thunb., Clethra alnifolia L., Elaeagnus umbellata Thunb., Deutzia scabra Thunb., Aesculus pavia L., Decaisnea fargesii Franch., Verbascum phoeniceum L., Hyoscyamus niger L., Verbena hastata L., Arctous alpina (L.) Nied., Crocus vernus (L.) Hill., Acer shirasawanum Koidz., Cornus suecica L., Digitalis purpurea L., etc. seeds were thoroughly investigated and planted in a fertile soil mixture in greenhouse conditions (temperature 20°C, relative humidity 72%).
The plants that have passed the adaptation test are intended to be used in the future for greening parks and gardens of the Absheron Peninsula.
