New species are being introduced in the research areas of the “Dendrology Garden” Public Legal Entity (PLE)

Within the framework of international cooperation to expand the scientific and research activities of the “Dendrology Garden” Public Legal Entity (PLE), and to defend and enrich biodiversity, acclimatization of new plant species has been carried out.
Cypella coelestis Diels., Tigridia orthantha Ravenna., Fritillaria affinis Sealy., Nothofagus antarctica Oerst., Abies bracteata Poit., Calycanthus occidentalis Hook., Rhododendron columbianum Harmaja., Vaccinium cespitosum Michx., Cercis occidentalis Torr., Lilium kelleyanum Lemmon., Fremontodendron californicum Coville., Abies concolor Lindl., Cercocarpus ledifolius var., obtained from the Botanical Garden of the University of California in the state of California, USA, within the framework of international cooperation by specialists of the “Ecology and Acclimatization” Laboratory of the “Dendrology Garden”Public Legal Entity (PLE). intermontanus N.Hol., Darlingtonia californica Torr., Heuchera micrantha Dou. seeds were sown on 13 April, 2026 in greenhouse conditions (Temperature 11 degree C, relative humidity 75%).
Since the introduced seeds are species suitable for cold climate conditions, they were previously stratified at low temperature in order to increase germination.
It is planned to conduct phenological observations on the species, study their adaptation to local soil and climatic conditions, as well as evaluate the possibilities of application of promising species in landscaping and landscape architecture.
