Seeds of ornamental plant species obtained from foreign scientific enterprises were introduced to the investigation territories of the “Dendrology Garden” Public Legal Entity

The staff of the “Landscape Architecture and Systematics” laboratory of the “Dendrology Garden” public legal entity (PLE) under the authority of the head of the  Executive Power of Baku City introduced the following: Lupinus albus L., Aster amellus L., Dahlia pinnata Cav. from the St. Petersburg State Forestry and Technical University named after S.M.Kirov, Cypella coelestis (Lehm.) Diels, Fritillaria affinis (Schult.) Sealy, Lilium kelleyanum Lemmon from the University of British Columbia (UBC) Botanical Garden in Canada, Callistephus chinensis (L.) Nees ‘Red Tower’, Callistephus chinensis (L.) Nees “Princess”, Viola mirabilis L., Iris albicans Lange, Mirabilis jalapa L., Rosa (Rambling Roses), Aquilegia “McKana Hybrids”, Alyssum Aphrodite L., Felicia amelloides (L.) Voss, Seeds of Gaillardia × grandiflora “Kobold”, Cosmos bipinnatus Cav., Campanula medium L., Syringa reflexa C.K.Schneid., Fuchsia regia (Vell.) Munz, Cosmos bipinnatus Cav., Thymus vulgaris L., Alcea rosea L., Rosa rubiginosa L., Phlox paniculata L. - from Ankara University of Türkiye were purchased and introduced to the research areas.

The bioecological features of the species were investigated, the seeds were planted in a fertile soil mixture and the study of their adaptation capabilities began in new climatic conditions. It is planned to enrich the collections, evaluate their decorative properties and widely utilize the introduced plants in landscape architecture in the future.

For this aim, it is planned to use the Lupinus albus L. species in group plantings creating background and vertical accents, the Aster amellus L. species in border and semicircular compositions, and the Dahlia pinnata Cav. species in decorative group and circular plantings creating central accents.
