December 31 is the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis
Today, December 31 is the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. At the same time, we are on the threshold of the New Year 2026.
We are already celebrating our Solidarity Day, which is a clear example of our unity and equality that has successfully passed the historical test, with great pride in the high spirits generated by the Historical Victory. Today, the unity and solidarity of our people have further accelerated the progress of our country. The Victory we won in the Patriotic War, which is written in golden letters in our history, is a clear example of our solidarity, the unity of the people and the unity of power around one fist.
World Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis plays an essential role in the formation of bonds of solidarity between Azerbaijanis living in various countries of the world.
The foundation of this day was laid in late December 1989 in Nakhchivan during the collapse of the borders (USSR-Iranian borders). The border posts between North and South Azerbaijan were destroyed.
Meanwhile, a conference of Turkic-speaking peoples was being held in Istanbul. The conference also decided to celebrate the solidarity of world Azerbaijanis.
On 16 December, 1991, Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, then chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, considering the importance of creating unity among world Azerbaijanis, declared December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.
Thus, December 31, dear to all Azerbaijanis, is celebrated as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.
Azerbaijanis are proud of this day and celebrate it with pride.
Happy holiday!
